I am a Consultant and Professor of Gastroenterology at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and St George’s University of London Medical School. I see patients in the NHS and privately at Parkside Hospital. I am fully registered with the General Medical Council and have specialist certification in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine.
I trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship gaining my PhD in the field of gut immunity and infection. My current research programme focuses on better methods of diagnosis and the epidemiology of inflammatory bowel disease (for more details see Research page)
My clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) including Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis, indigestion and heartburn, chronic diarrhoea, gut infections, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and screening for bowel/Colon cancer. I am an experienced therapeutic endoscopist and have performed many thousand gastroscopies and colonoscopies.
